Sept 4-6
This week was a time to welcome returning students back to Chapman Hill, as well as welcome new faces to Chapman Hill. For all students in Rosendahl, Rediger, Dizney, Elliott, Clark and Foelkl it was a time to jump into the fun activities in Mrs. Wanek's PE class but first, we covered classroom producers and classroom management and even practiced fire drill exiting procedures which correlates to our unit of study in health. To find out more about how my class is run, check out the Making it all Work tab.
We spent time on basic locomotor skills, stretching and had some time of exploring with juggling scarves. Our favorite game though seemed to be the Bean Bag Give Away game.

Sept 9-13
This week we worked on some of our mandated standards with students, working on improving their locamotor movements such as running, galloping, skipping and hopping as well as stopping and starting on signal. 3rd graders worked on demonstrating a three
different step pattern and combing these movements into a repeatable
sequences as we learned the steps to the Respect dance. I was so pleased with how quickly students jumped into learning this song. We had time for Crazy Noodle Tag, Fire and Ice and Bean Bag Give Away. We learned some new stretches and played Hit the Wall with 1-2 graders and the game Frenzey with 3rd graders as well as incorporating a health related ball game with all classes after we talked about our Sept health unit as well this week. With all classes we introduce what it is to be a respectful audience while others preform.
Sept 16-20
This week we focused on conditioning for the up coming Jog-a-thon by walking, jogging and running the Mesa track. I was really pleased with the effort of the students. Once they completed their lap they were offered centers to choose from in the field area such as freebies, flig-it nets and chicken, scoops, hula hoops and nerf footballs. As the weather turned poorly on Friday we joined in the gym for a game of musical color dots working on stopping and starting and locomoter skills and slide bean bag tag using our underhand throwing skills. Mrs. Peerson present our health unit on resolving conflict.
Sept 23-27
I am really excited this week to try some new conditioning games that I recently found. We will also be learning the dance Alley Cat with Elliott, Clark and Foelkl's class and the Hokey Pokey working on right and left with Dizney, Rediger, and Rosendaul's classes. This week we will again visiting the state standards of performance and being a good audience.
Sept 30-Oct 4
This week we stayed in with Mrs. Peerson's classes in the gym. I thought I have really gotten soft staying inside when it is raining rather than using the covered area like last year until I read the Statesman Journal headline saying that this is the wettest September on recorded in Salem since 1872! Combining with Mrs. Peerson brings us great opportunities thought to participate with other classes in our activities. Thursday our focus as on one of our new health unit the Brain. (see the health tab for more information on the health units) Friday was the jog-a-thon. Great weather though a bit cool and fun for all by the smiles on the students faces.
